The protection of sensitive and confidential data become a challenging task in the present scenario as more and more digital data is stored and transmitted between the end users. The privacy is vitally necessary in case of medical data, which contains the important information of the patients. In this article, a novel biometric inspired medical encryption technique is proposed based on newly introduced parameterized all phase orthogonal transformation (PR-APBST), singular value, and QR decomposition. The proposed technique utilizes the biometrics of the patient/owner to generate a key management system to obtain the parameters involved in the proposed technique. The medical image is then encrypted employing PR-APBST, QR and singular value decomposition and is ready for secure transmission or storage. Finally, a reliable decryption process is employed to reconstruct the original medical image from the encrypted image. The validity and feasibility of the proposed framework have been demonstrated using an extensive experiments on various medical images and security analysis. © 1989-2012 IEEE.

A Novel Biometric Inspired Robust Security Framework for Medical Images

The relative aging is an important notion which is useful to measure how a system ages relative to another one. Among the existing stochastic orders, there are two important orders describing the relative aging of two systems, namely, aging faster orders in the cumulative hazard and the cumulative reversed hazard rate functions. In this paper, we give some sufficient conditions under which one coherent system ages faster than another one with respect to the aforementioned stochastic orders. Further, we show that the proposed sufficient conditions are satisfied for k-out-of-n systems. Moreover, some numerical examples are given to illustrate the applications of proposed results. On relative aging comparisons of coherent systems with identically distributed components

Instrumented versions of functional geriatric screening tests have been developed to improve clinical precision. Several different instrumented versions of the Sit-to-Stand (iSTS) test have been developed using a range of sensors such as accelerometers and cameras. An instrumented chair equipped with load cells and an ultrasound sensor was developed to detect phases of the STS (Sit to Stand). The chair was designed to be able to detect all the phases of the STS, including when the person was not in contact with the chair. Performance of the iSTS chair was compared between an RGB camera approach, and a data-fusion approach using the load-cell and ultrasound equipped chair. Ten adult subjects were tested performing the 5STS at two self-selected speeds. The accuracy of the load cell equipped chair was 70%, while the RGB camera achieved 76% accuracy. The ultrasound version of the chair and the fusion of the RGB and load cells technique both achieved significantly better accuracy at 86% and 89%, respectively. The new version of the instrumented chair obtained a high degree of accuracy in detecting the different phases of the STS and is suitable to detect STS phases without requiring additional sensors. Future work will test older subjects and aim to develop new parameters based on the phases of the STS as indicators of physical performance. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Development of an Instrumented Chair to Identify the Phases of the Sit-to-Stand Movement

Stability characteristics of a pressure-driven Poiseuille type flow are explored in a horizontal channel with porous walls. The flow is modified with a thermal gradient, and the temperature slips alongside a uniform cross-flow for three different configurations: (i) the flow having heat influx/outflux and temperature jump across the channel walls with internal heat generation in the fluid, (ii) the flow with constant wall temperatures (not necessarily equal) and no internal heat source, and (iii) the flow having a temperature jump/slip at the upper wall and lower wall with a constant temperature. The Reynolds, Péclet, and Rayleigh numbers govern the behavior of the thermal and velocity profiles along with the physical aspects of the flow. The modified Orr-Sommerfeld and energy equations are derived for the perturbed system by the normal mode analysis and solved using the Chebyshev collocation method, while the energy budget analysis is used to further illustrate the stability characteristics of the system. The resulting eigenvalues and eigenfunctions are used to analyze the growth rate characteristics, neutral stability ranges, velocity isolines, and temperature isotherms for each flow configuration. Further, the energy from various sources is calculated by making use of eigenfunctions corresponding to the unstable eigenmodes. An increase in the Rayleigh and Reynolds numbers promotes the flow instability; whereas, a higher cross-flow Reynolds number suppresses the instability by raising the upward cross-flow. The porous walls, characterized by the velocity slip and wall shear, inhibit the Poiseuille-Rayleigh-Bénard instability of the system. The higher temperature difference/lower wall temperature and the stronger thermal slip, respectively, destabilize and stabilize the flow. Conclusively, the flow instability varies depending on the configuration. © 2021 Author(s).

Poiseuille-Rayleigh-Bénard instability of a channel flow with uniform cross-flow and thermal slip

We discuss a new stochastic ordering for the sequence of independent random variables. It generalizes the stochastic precedence (SP) order that is defined for two random variables to the case n > 2. All conventional stochastic orders are transitive, whereas the SP order is not. Therefore, a new approach to compare the sequence of random variables had to be developed that resulted in the notion of the sequential precedence order. Generalization of the pairwise stochastic precedence order to the sequence of random variables

The main aim of this article is to study non-singular version of Moser–Trudinger and Adams–Moser–Trudinger inequalities and the singular version of Moser–Trudinger equality in the Cartesian product of Sobolev spaces. Adams–Moser–Trudinger inequality in the Cartesian product of Sobolev spaces and its applications

Quasilinear nonlocal elliptic problems with varable singular exponent

In this paper, a new robust watermarking framework is designed using the discrete cosine transform (DCT), binary decimal sequence (d-sequence) and Dn-structure. The core idea is to generate a binary d-sequence based on random number generator (RNG) and some secret keys. This binary sequence is then utilized to generate reference sets based on Dn-structure. For embedding purpose, the host image is transformed using DCT and selected coefficients are employed to construct a macro block. Each binary watermark bit is securely embedded into macro block by utilizing the reference set. The reverse process is finally formulated to extract the watermark at the receiver end. The proposed technique is experimentally analyzed using various quality metrics and attacks. The comprehensive experimental results illustrate that the proposed watermarking scheme is robust to both geometric distortions (resizing, cropping, wrapping and random row deletion) and general signal processing attacks (various noise addition, blurring, high pass filtering, image sharpening, contrast adjustment, Histogram equalization and gamma correction and JPEG compression) and outperforms state-of-the-art watermarking methods. © 2019, Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

A robust blind watermarking framework based on Dn structure

In this paper, a robust image watermarking scheme based on all phase sine biorthogonal transform (APSBT), singular value decomposition (SVD) and dynamic stochastic resonance (DSR) is presented. Firstly, the cover image is transformed by APSBT and then a gray-scale logo is embedded through the singular value decomposition. After the authentication process which essentially resolves the false-positive extraction of SVD in watermarking, a phenomenon based on dynamic stochastic resonance is deployed for the logo extraction from the watermarked image. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme has better performance in the aspect of robustness and invisibility. © 2020, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

A Robust Watermarking Scheme for Copyright Protection

Automated clinical tests that assess quality of geriatric screening tests such as the Five-Times-Sit- To-Stand (5STS) and the Timed-Up-and-Go (TUG) are being designed to assess the decline in functional ability of elderly. The existing techniques to assess the quality of these physical activities include sensor-based techniques including body mounted sensors, force sensors and, vision and imaging sensors. These sensors have their own advantages and disadvantages towards the task of clinical assessment. In this work, we introduce a fusion- based technique to combine multiple sensors leveraging advantages of individual sensors, in such a way that the resulting assessment is more accurate. We evaluate our technique for 5STS test using a fusion of a chair and RGB sensors. In a test of 15 older people, there was no significant difference in performance between the two sensors, obtaining 76% and 73% for the RGB and chair, respectively. However, a significant improvement was obtained for the fusion technique, with 90% accuracy for all the phases of the STS test. The proposed fusion technique was observed to be better than the individual sensor assessment. © 2020 IEEE.
