This study investigates the fairness concerned behavior of the supply chain members in a dyadic supply chain with one manufacturer and one retailer, wherein the manufacturer puts efforts for improving the product's greening level and sells it to the customers through the retailer. Through manufacturer-led and retailer-led Stackelberg game frameworks, the study presents two models- one in which only the manufacturer exhibits advantageous ineemiiy averse behavior and the other in which only the retailer exhibits them. The results demonstrate the following findings: (1) the manufacturer's profit is decreasing while product's greening level, retailer's and total supply chain's profits are increasing and manufacturer's wholesale price and retailer's market price are nonmonotone in manufacturer's fairness concern, (2) the wholesale price, product's greening level, manufacturer's profit, and total supply chain's profit are increasing while retailer's profit is decreasing and market price is nonmonotone in retailer's fairness concern. In addition, the study examines the optimality of cost-sharing contract for different ranges of the model parameters. Furthermore, the findings are elucidated through the numerical analysis and managerial insights are generated.

Game-Theoretic Analysis of Green Supply Chain Under Cost-Sharing Contract with Fairness Concerns

This study reports the use of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii at the cathode in a photosynthetic microbial fuel cell (PMFC). The PMFC produced power and current density of 15.21 W m(3) and 39 A m(3), respectively. The specific growth rate of algae culture at the cathode was 0.284 day(-1). The system achieved COD removal at 73.30\% with a Coulombic efficiency of 9.068\%. The usability of algae biomass was assessed in terms of its total phenol content (157.69 mg GAE/g algae DW), antioxidant activity (IC50 = 67.07 mu g/ml), total Chlorophyll (18.95 mg/g), total Carotenoids (2.40 mg/g), and antibacterial properties against known pathogens. Overall, the study's findings suggested that C. reinhardtii supports high power output from a PMFC and is highly resourceful in terms of valueadded products.

Performance evaluation of a photosynthetic microbial fuel cell (PMFC) using Chlamydomonas reinhardtii at cathode

Citations are nodes in the networks of knowledge we create. Portals to conversations with the past and bonding material with the scholarship of the present. Choosing who we cite is a practice signaling who we recognize and respect as a knowledge source. Therefore, we recognize citations as a relational practice. As this relational characteristic of citing is mediated by wealth we distribute across those who we cite, it is imperative to interrogate how just these practices are. We ought to engage with Citational Justice. Building on recent work discussing citational practices within HCI [9], we use the opportunity of this workshop to expand this conversation into deeper reflection on how we cite and the practices and infrastructures surrounding citations. Our goal with this workshop is two-fold. First, to create common language to collectively reflect, interrogate our own citational practices and reverberations, while fleshing out concrete steps to make these practices just in our work and communities we are part of. Second, to invite participants to re-imagine citational practices and the systems and infrastructures necessary to make such practices feasible. We invite a diverse group of participants from the CSCW community interested in examining their citational practices and the systems surrounding them. © 2021 ACM.

Following the Trail of Citational Justice: Critically Examining Knowledge Production in HCI

Memory bias entails preferential recall of a certain kind of information over another. The present research explores the self-verification motive in memory bias to maintain self-esteem. It is hypothesised that people with high self-esteem will remember more positive content and people with low self-esteem will remember more negative content to maintain their self-esteem. Two experiments were conducted to test it. Experiment one (N = 48) uses two groups of high and low self-esteem based on their self-esteem score. In experiment two (N = 44), self-esteem is manipulated in the laboratory by providing positive or negative feedback to participants on a performance task. In both experiments, memory bias is measured by the number of positive or negative adjectives recalled after seeing them on a computer screen. Results of both studies confirm the hypotheses and show that people remember/recall the words that fit into their present self-schema more and forget the words which go against it. © 2021 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

Does memory bias help in maintaining self-esteem? Exploring the role of self-verification motive in memory bias

The present study aims to understand how the youth characterizes major life decisions (MLD), the process through which they take decisions, and the factors that might trigger the evaluation of their decisions. Six focus group discussions were conducted among university students and PhD scholars. The discussions with the participants revealed the role of realistic social environments by examining their views and lived experiences. The thematic analysis of the responses demonstrates that the MLD involves a step-wise decision-making process in which there is no single, optimal, or correct answer. The major life decision-making process of youths operates within the limits of bounded rationality. Information overload, limited time, physical tiredness represented limits on the decision-making process. Factors such as the emotional state, family background, social comparison, and past experiences emerged as important influences in the decision process. The changes in the life course, social comparison, dissatisfactions with the decisional outcomes, and the disposition of decision-maker were the prominent factors that led youths to evaluate or re-examine their decision process. © 2021, National Academy of Psychology (NAOP) India.

Life Decisions and Youth: A Focus Group Study of Making and Reflecting on Major Decisions of Life

Flexible devices open opportunities to explore new shapes and interactions for future digital devices. In this paper, we introduce a novel concept of Möbius shaped flexible handheld device. The Möbius shape is proposed due to (a) its ability to double the display view with smaller device structure and (b) propose natural input interactions. We also present input interactions using the free form structure of Möbius shape for commonly performed digital tasks such as scrolling, multi-tasking, multiple selection, writing and an expanded view. Further, we present how Möbius can be converted into a wearable device and a triangular device that supports the user in different usage contexts. Finally, we conclude the paper by providing our views on the contribution of this paper and why such work in important in expanding the horizon of mobile interaction and HCI research on flexible displays. © 2021 ACM.

Novel Input Interactions for a Möbius Shaped Flexible Handheld Device

The precedence of women over men in Bharati Mukherjee’s works reflects an attempt on her part to construct a feminine narrative as a means of countering the marginalized position that women usually occupy in mainstream traditional literature. This paper probes how with such displacement of female perspectives into an authoritative position, routinely prescribed for men, Mukherjee revises the suspiciously stable place occupied by male immigrant subjects in fictional writings. Employing the critical voices of several masculinity theorists, this paper explores how immigrant men’s conceptions of masculinity are reformulated and challenged by their migration processes. Seen in the light of gender oppression, the male characters, seem to occupy an ineffective and feminine narrative space even in powerful male stories of immigrant economic success written by Mukherjee. Finally, the paper probes how Mukherjee’s act of rewriting masculinity from inventive perspectives in her fictions introduces new, more egalitarian, and alternate models of manhood. © 2021 SAGE Publications.

Rewriting Immigrant Masculinities in Selected Works of Bharati Mukherjee

Abstract: To monitor and manage hydrological systems such as brooks, streams, rivers, the use of tracers is a well-established process. Limited number of potential tracers such as salts, isotopes and dyes, make study of hydrological processes a challenge. Traditional tracers find limited use due to lack of multiplexed, multipoint tracing and background noise, among others. In this regard, DNA based tracers possess remarkable advantages including, environmentally friendly, stability, and high sensitivity in addition to showing great potential in the synthesis of ideally unlimited number of unique tracers capable of multipoint tracing. To prevent unintentional losses in the environment during application and easy recovery for analysis, we hereby report DNA encapsulation in silica containing magnetic cores (iron oxide) of two different shapes—spheres and cubes. The iron oxide nanoparticles having size range 10–20 nm, have been synthesized using co-precipitation of iron salts or thermal decomposition of iron oleate precursor in the presence of oleic acid or sodium oleate. Physico-chemical properties such as size, zeta potential, magnetism etc. of the iron oxide nanoparticles have been optimized using different ligands for effective binding of dsDNA, followed by silanization. We report for the first time the effect of surface coating on the magnetic properties of the iron oxide nanoparticles at each stage of functionalization, culminating in silica shells. Efficiency of encapsulation of three different dsDNA molecules has been studied using quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR). Our results show that our DNA based magnetic tracers are excellent candidates for hydrological monitoring with easy recoverability and high signal amplification. Magnetic Nanoparticles to Unique DNA Tracers: Effect of Functionalization on Physico-chemical Properties

The debate on the positive and negative impact of Facebook on youth particularly on their academic performance has become prevalent in academic discourses. The previous studies show mixed findings of the effect of Facebook on academic performance as well as on other education-related variables. Though the role of Facebook in academics is well explored, however, the impact of academics on Facebook usage has not been examined. The present study examines the reverse possibility i.e. effect of study and academic performance on Facebook usage. Two offline survey studies were conducted on Indian college students. Study one was conducted on 250 undergraduate students (mean age = 20.15; 101 female participants) which shows a significant positive impact of past academic performance on Facebook friendship. Study two was conducted on 317 undergraduate students (mean age = 19.95; 259 females) with two additional indicators of Facebook usage i.e. time spent on Facebook and attitude toward Facebook use. Results of study two also show a positive impact of academic performance on Facebook friendship, however, no such impact is found for other indicators of Facebook use. Overall research shows academic achievement positively influences the virtual popularity of individuals, especially for college students. © 2021 by the authors; licensee CEDTECH by Bastas.

How does academic performance increase virtual popularity? A case of facebook usage among Indian college students

Art and design are increasingly crucial in Indian school curricula. Lack of specific instructional pedagogy, schools, follows a different methodology to teach art. Therefore, most students neither achieve a basic understanding of creating art nor develop design or skill. Although the article art education in India 2010 reported that it is an essential tool for equipping students to stimulate cognitive development and encourage innovative and creative thinking. Furthermore, it also emphasizes using electronic media aids to teach this subject. Nevertheless, most schools are giving less importance to teaching art and do not take the initiative to develop better pedagogy. However, education pedagogy in recent decades has struggled to develop new methods and tools for better learning. Virtual reality (VR) is one of the meaningful solutions to technology-driven pedagogy. It allows us to visualize abstract content, provide information with clarity, and actively participate in the learning environment. In this study, the researcher introduced a teaching–learning design concept using virtual reality technology so that the sixth standard student could learn art and design in the VR environment. The content is developed on elements of art, and the topics have been chosen from the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) art education program. The result of this study shows the procedure and criteria for content design with the aid of virtual reality for the study of art and design.
