This paper studies circular formation control of multi-vehicle systems, modeled with unicycle dynamics, in a uniform flowfield with different temporal phase arrangements, while assuring that the trajectories of the vehicles remains bounded within a region. Using the idea of Barrier Lyapunov function in conjunction with temporal phase potential functions, we derive control laws that achieves our objectives, under a mild assumption on the initial states of the vehicles. We further obtain bounds on the various signals in the post-design analysis and show that these depends on the initial conditions and controller gains. Simulations are provided to illustrate the theoretical findings. © 2019 IEEE.

Temporal circular formation control with bounded trajectories in a uniform flowfield

In this manuscript, a derated MPPT (Maximum Power Peak Tracking) scheme is proposed, for grid integrated solar PV system. Since, due to reverse power flow towards the grid, the voltage on PCC (Point of Common Coupling) increases. According to the norms of the grid, only up to 10% increment in PCC voltage is acceptable. In this situation, when PCC voltage exceeds the limit, then a single option is de-rate the MPPT operation. In this work, a derated MPPT scheme is introduced, which is the modified form of the most popular perturb and observe (PO) MPPT algorithm. The Derated PO (DPO) MPPT algorithm operates for MPP (Maximum Power Peak) when PCC voltage is under the limit. However, when PCC voltage exceeds the limit, then DPO operates on a specific point where PCC voltage is just below the upper limit. The performance of the DPO MPPT algorithm is validated through MATLAB simulation on different types of grid condition as well as in dynamic variation of solar irradiance condition. © 2019 Galgotias University.

Derated MPPT Scheme for Grid Integrated Solar PV Energy Conversion System

In this manuscript, a novel 'Wavelet Mutation based JAYA Optimization (WMJO), algorithm is developed for GMPPS (Global Maximum Power Peak Searching) for partially shaded solar PV (Photovoltaic) panel condition. In classical GMPPS algorithms like Particle Swarm Optimization, Differential Evolution, Genetic Algorithm, etc., the major issues are, longer searching time during dynamic change condition, and computational complexity. The mitigation of these issues is the key contribution of this developed WMJO algorithm. In WMJO algorithm, the searching particles are pushed towards the global maximum peak by JAYA optimization algorithm, and the concept of Wavelet Mutation (WM) is used to explore the solution space. Therefore, the hybridized form of JAYA optimization algorithm and WM, WMJO algorithm searches GMPP (Global Maximum Power Peak) very accurately, which enhances the GMPPS efficiency in a steady-state condition. Moreover, in every iteration for dynamic condition detection, here an envelope of power is created, where the range is 5% below the lowest value of worst power and 5% above the highest value of the maximum achieved power in that iteration. In dynamic solar irradiance change condition, the envelope of power detects the situation and accordingly explores the searching particles to quickly capture the GMPP zone. Both these tactics increase the tracking efficiency in steady-state condition as well as decreases the GMPPS duration in dynamic irradiance change condition. The performance of WMJO algorithm is evaluated on different types of characteristics of solar irradiance pattern, through MATLAB simulation. © 2019 IEEE.

Wavelet Mutation based JAYA Optimization Algorithm for Global Maximum Power Peak Searching for Partially Shaded Solar PV Panel Condition

This work introduces a novel damped fifth-order generalized integrator (DFOGI) based control algorithm for grid-integrated solar photovoltaic (PV) system. Moreover, for GMPPT (Global Maximum Power Point Tracking), HPO (Human Psychology Optimisation) algorithm is used. Here, a three-phase three wire, single-stage topology of grid-integrated partially shaded PV array is implemented. Global maximum power peak searching behavior of HPO algorithm is very rapid and accurate, which gives a satisfactory steady-state and dynamic performances, even in rapid solar irradiance change condition. The prime objective of proposed DFOGI control is to accurately transfer the solar power to the grid at unity power factor, even when grid suffers from abnormal and adverse conditions. During these conditions, on the grid side, the power quality is maintained, where the proposed control technique provides power factor correction, and harmonics mitigation. The proposed techniques are modeled, and their performances are verified experimentally on a developed prototype, in solar insolation variation conditions, as well as in different grid disturbances such as over and under-voltage, phase imbalance, harmonics distortion in the grid voltage etc. Test results have met the objectives of the proposed work and parameters are under the permissible limit, according to the IEEE-519 standard. © 2019 Institution of Engineering and Technology. Grid synchronisation framework for partially shaded solar PV-based microgrid using intelligent control strategy

Integration of distributed generation (DG) sources poses new protection challenges in distribution system. The fault current characteristics change due to bidirectional flow of current and unpredictable nature of DG sources. In this work, Stockwell transform based protection scheme has been proposed to detect and classify faults in a distribution network integrated with a solar photo voltaic power plant (SPV). The post fault current transients measured over a moving window at the substation are decomposed using S- Transform to obtain the peak magnitude of second harmonic content which is defined as fault index. This fault index is compared with a threshold (TF) to detect and classify faults. The proposed algorithm has been successfully implemented on IEEE 13 bus system with numerous case studies involving variations of fault incidence angles and fault locations in MATLAB environment. The immunity of the proposed algorithm to switching transients, energization/de-energization of power components and noisy environment has also been established. © 2019 IEEE.

S-Transform Based Protection Scheme for Distribution System Integrated with Solar Power Plant

BiFe0.99Cr0.01O3 thin film is deposited on FTO glass using sol-gel technique. The deposited film is used in Ag/ BiFe0.99Cr0.01O3/FTO configuration to understand its potential as RRAM device. The device showed forming free bipolar RRAM characteristics with Ion/Ioff~80. The device showed non-volatile behaviour by maintaining its LRS and HRS states for 104 s. The device exhibits excellent reproducibility up to 100 cycles and reliability of Vset and Vreset voltage is observed. The endurance characteristics for 200 cycles ensures the stability of the device, further, conduction mechanism is attributed to filament formation and switching mechanism is assigned to migration of silver ion inside the film. © 2019 IEEE.

Reliable and forming free bipolar resistive switching in solution derived Ag/BiFe0.99Cr0.01O3/FTO device

Recognition of touching characters in mathematical expressions is a challenging problem in the field of document image analysis. Various approaches for recognizing touching maths symbols have been reported in literature, but they mainly dealt with printed expressions and handwritten numeral strings. In this work, a new segmentation-free approach is proposed which matches convex shape portions of symbols occurring in various layout such as subscript, superscript, fraction etc. and is able to perform spotting of symbols present in a handwritten expression. Our contribution lies in the design of a novel feature which can handle touching symbols effectively in the presence of handwriting variations. This recognition-based approach helps in spotting symbols in an expression even in the presence of clutter created by the presence of other symbols. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2019.

Symbol Spotting in Offline Handwritten Mathematical Expressions

A BSIM-based compact model for a high-voltage MOSFET is presented. The model uses the BSIM-BULK (formerly BSIM6) model at its core, which has been extended to include the overlap capacitance due to the drift region as well as quasi-saturation effect. The model is symmetric and continuous, is validated with the TCAD simulations and experimental 35- and 90-V LDMOS and 40-V VDMOS transistors, and shows excellent agreement. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

BSIM-HV: High-Voltage MOSFET Model including Quasi-Saturation and Self-Heating Effect

This paper demonstrates the design of a dual-band substrate integrated coaxial line (SICL) balun operating at 6 GHz and 28 GHz for 5G application. The proposed design is realized using open-ended coaxial stubs with shielding. The performance of the dual-band SICL configuration is analyzed and range of realizable frequency ratios is determined from the analytically derived equations. The designed SICL based balun demonstrates low amplitude and phase imbalance in both the desired bands with good inter-band suppression making it worthy for practical applications. A fractional bandwidth of 17.6% and 3.97% at 6 GHz and 28 GHz band respectively is achieved by the proposed balun covering 0.43?g × 0.68?g circuit area. The electromagnetic robustness and wide-band single mode TEM characteristics of the proposed SICL based dual-band balun makes it a befitting option to deploy in millimeter-wave range. © 2018 IEICE

A substrate integrated coaxial line dual-band balun for 5G applications

This paper presents Ka- band bias tee network designed in a Substrate Integrated coaxial line environment. The proposed circuit operates in the frequency range 31-35 GHz. A series of butterfly stub is used to realize inductor. To implement capacitor, interdigital structure is introduced in the middle layer of SICL. The size of this proposed circuit design is 1.1 \lambda\mathrm{g}\times 0.72 \lambda\mathrm{g}, where \lambda\mathrm{g} is guided wavelength at centre frequency of 33 GHz. The proposed results exhibit 0.1 dB insertion loss along with DC isolation 22dB with good impedance matching. The proposed circuit is very much suitable for Ka band active components application. © 2019 IEEE.
