The Department of Bioscience & Bioengineering at IIT Jodhpur was established in 2009. Currently, the Department offers a B.Tech. program in Bioengineering, an M.Tech. and M.Tech-Ph.D. dual degree programs in Bioscience & Bioengineering. Our programs are positioned uniquely to offer biology education through an interdisciplinary lens to facilitate trans-disciplinary solutions to societal problems. We also offer a competitive Ph.D. program to nurture independent thinking and relevant laboratory skills. By enabling our students to think independently and equipping them with relevant skillsets, our goal is to encourage bioengineering graduates to innovate by combining their knowledge in biological sciences and in engineering disciplines to develop technologies for:

Faculty members at the department have expertise in a range of diverse areas. Along with our teams, we conduct fundamental and translational research in focus areas that are currently relevant and will be relevant in the future. We are passionate about research and also actively communicate our science via regular outreach programs.
