Dr. Bhushan holds a PhD in Economics from the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad. After obtaining his PhD, he worked with the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (Postdoctoral Research Fellow), and the Indian Institute of Management Bodh Gaya (Faculty).

His research interests include international trade and macroeconomic interactions. He has published on these issues in journals such as Applied Economics, International Economics, and International Journal of Finance and Economics, among others. He has received the Literati Award from Emerald Publishers for a highly commended paper. Bhushan has presented his research at a number of international and national conferences both in India and abroad. He has also served as a reviewer for several renowned international journals.
