Zirconium carbonitride (ZrC-ZrN) absorber layer has been optimized for the maximum absorptivity alpha similar to 0.9 in ZrOx/ZrC-ZrN/Zr reflector-absorber tandem structures on stainless steel (SS) and aluminum (Al) substrates, using reactive DC/RF magnetron sputtering process and varying reactive nitrogen during the deposition. The mechanical properties such as hardness and Young's modulus values increase from similar to 19.63 to similar to 38.53 GPa and similar to 36.39 to similar to 58.67 GPa, respectively, with increasing nitrogen flow rate during ZrC-ZrN absorber layer deposition on SS substrate. These values also increase with increasing load up to a critical limit and saturates thereafter with further increase in load values. The films with moderate hardness and Young's modulus exhibit enhanced solar thermal performance (alpha similar to 0.9) against films with lower and higher values of these mechanical properties, suggesting optimal nitrogen concentration for desired solar thermal performance.

Effect of Growth Condition on Mechanical Properties of Zirconium Carbonitride Absorber-Based Spectrally Selective Coatings

This work presents experimental results of scattering studies in spatially random metamaterial absorbers fabricated by randomly distributed conducting circular patches on a dielectric substrate having a conducting ground plane. It has been showed that due to the random distributions of distances between the resonators, there are many coupled resonances, resonating at different wavelengths, resulting in a wider absorption bandwidth. For the validation of experimental results, numerical simulations were carried out and a good degree of agreement was found between them. © 2018, Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

Experimental studies of absorption bandwidth enhancement in random metamaterials

The work presents a simple and novel design approach to extend the bandwidth of existing Dielectric Material Based Microwave Absorber (DMBMA). The design comprises planar square patches of DMBMA placed periodically on a metalbacked FR4 sheet. For demonstration purpose, the DMBMA is synthesized by adding conducting carbon fillers in polyurethane matrix, and its electromagnetic parameters are measured in X-band. A single reflection null is observed in DMBMA owing to λ/4 resonance. In comparison, the bandwidth of 8GHz (10-18 GHz) is achieved for -10 dB reflection for square patch based DMBMA. The thickness of proposed absorber is 2.75mm. An additional resonant mode is observed due to capacitive coupling between the square patches. The enhanced bandwidth is attributed to the overlapping of λ/4 resonance and induced coupling mode. In the present paper, we consider the following magnetic nonlinear Choquard equation {(−i∇+A(x))2u+μg(x)u=λu+(|x|−α⁎|u|2⁎ α)|u|2α ⁎−2uinRn,u∈H1(Rn,C) where n≥4, 2α ⁎=[Formula presented], α∈(0,n), μ&gt;0, λ&gt;0 is a parameter, A(x):Rn→Rn is a magnetic vector potential and g(x) is a real valued potential function on Rn. Using variational methods, we establish the existence of least energy solution under some suitable conditions. On concentration of least energy solutions for magnetic critical Choquard equations

We study the following nonlinear system with perturbations involving⎧p-fractional Laplacian: (Formula Presented) where n &gt; sp, 0 &lt; s &lt; 1, p ≥ 2, µ ∈ (0, n), p(2 − µ/n)/2 &lt; q &lt; p∗ s(2 − µ/n)/2, α, β, γ &gt; 0, 0 &lt; ai ∈ C(Rn, R), i = 1, 2 and f1, f2: Rn → R are perturbations. On doubly nonlocal p-fractional coupled elliptic system

In this paper, a robust image hashing framework is presented using discrete cosine transformation and singular value decomposition. Firstly, the input image is normalized using geometric moment and normalized coefficients are divided into non-overlapping blocks. The selected blocks based on a peace-wise non-linear chaotic map are transformed using discrete cosine transom followed by singular value decomposition. Then a feature matrix is constructed in reliance on Hessian matrix and the final hash values are obtained. The proposed hashing system is resilient to different content-preserving image distortions such as geometric and filtering operations. The simulated results demonstrate the efficiency proposed framework in terms of security and robustness. © 2018 ACM.

A Chaos Based Robust and Secure Image Hashing Framework

In this paper, a robust watermarking technique is proposed using integer discrete cosine transform, non-linear chaotic map and dynamic stochastic resonance (DSR). Firstly, the host image is transformed into integer DCT domain where the coefficients are partitioned into non-over-lapping blocks. A circulant matrix is then constructed from the selected blocks. Block selection is done using a non-linear chaotic map. This circulant matrix is used for embedding the watermark by computing the singular values. The extraction of the watermark is done by producing the dynamic stochastic resonance (DSR) phenomena and casting a verification step. This verification step essentially solves the false positive detection problem that arises in SVD based watermarking. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme is imperceptible and robust against a variety of intentional or unintentional attacks. © 2018 Elsevier Inc.

A new robust watermarking system in integer DCT domain

We focus on synthesis of textual description from a given building floor plan image based on the first-person vision perspective. Tasks like symbol spotting, wall and decor segmentation, semantic and perceptual segmentation has been done in the past on floor plans. Here, for the first time, we propose an end-to-end framework for first person vision based textual description synthesis of building floor plans. We demonstrate (qualitative and quantitatively) that the proposed framework gives state of the art performance on challenging, real-world floor plan images. Potential application of this work could be understanding floor plans, stability analysis of buildings, and retrieval. © 2018 IEEE.

Plan2Text: A framework for describing building floor plan images from first person perspective

In this paper, a new image watermarking framework for copiright protection is presented using image normalization, singular value decomposition (SVD) and dynamic stochastic resonance (DSR). The image is first normalized using the geometric moments and then an ownership message is embedded by employing the singular value decomposition. Finally, a reliable extraction process based on dynamic stochastic resonance is proposed. The DSR phenomenon helps in the extraction of the watermark information and improves the robustness of the system. A sequence of experiments and analysis are regulated to verify the effectiveness and the higher degree of robustness, especially for the geometric attacks. © 2018 IEEE.

A robust watermarking scheme based on image normalization

In an indoor scenario, the visually impaired do not have the information about the surroundings and finds it difficult to navigate from room to room. The sensor-based solutions are expensive and may not always be comfortable for the end users. In this paper, we focus on the problem of synthesis of textual description from a given floor plan image to assist the visually impaired. The textual description, in addition to a text reading software, can aid the visually impaired person while moving inside a building. In this work, for the first time, we propose an end to end framework (ASYSST) for textual description synthesis from digitized building floor plans. We have introduced a novel Bag of Decor (BoD) feature to learn 5 classes of a room from 1355 samples under a supervised learning paradigm. These learned labels are fed into a description synthesis framework to yield a holistic description of a floor plan image. Experimental analysis of real publicly available floor plan data-set proves the superiority of our framework. © 2018 Association for Computing Machinery.
