Subhasish Dey is a hydraulician and educator. He is known for his research on the hydrodynamics throughout the world and acclaimed for his contributions to develop theories and solution methodologies of various problems on applied hydrodynamics, turbulence, and sediment transport. He was conferred with the Hans Albert Einstein Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) in 2022. He is currently a Distinguished Professor of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur (2023–). Before, he worked as a Professor of the Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur (1998–2023), where he served as the Head of the Department of Civil Engineering during 2013–15. He also held the position of Distinguished Visiting Professor of Tsinghua University, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China (2016–18), Adjunct Professor of Indian Statistical Institute Kolkata (2014–19) and Brahmaputra Chair Professor, IIT Kharagpur during 2009–14 and 2015.
