Presently an Assistant Professor at the School of Liberal Arts, IIT Jodhpur I am a theatre and performance researcher/critic/dramaturg/performer from Santiniketan. Until recently I was a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Delhi. For my doctoral project completed at the School of Arts and Aesthetics, Jawaharlal Nehru University, I worked on the relationship between “theatre” and the “archive” through a case study of productions of Tagore’s plays. I have been part of conceptualization and execution of multiple performances at Santiniketan, Kolkata and New Delhi. My current research focuses on “disability and theatre” in the Indian context. Since 2019, I have been working closely with the Kolkata based blind theatre group Anyadesh, both learning and documenting the methodologies of theatre-pedagogy that the group has evolved specially for the visually impaired through the years. I have received a research grant from the India Foundation for the Arts (IFA), Bangalore in 2021 to create a documentary monograph on the group. My articles have appeared in reputed journals like Visva-Bharati Quarterly, Economic & Political Weekly and Theatre Research International, Cambridge University Press. My first monograph on performances of Tagore’s plays titled “To Stage Or Not To Stage” will be published in 2022 by The Social Science Press in South Asia and Routledge (Taylor & Francis), globally.
