Abstract
In this paper, the results of a optimization study carried out for the selection of landing gear parameters of an aircraft are presented. The landing gear parameters are optimized for the two qualitatively different conditions of operation of the aircraft namely landing and taxying. The relative importance of various parameters is brought out and some simple guidelines are suggested for the optimum selection of the landing gear parameters. Finally, a suggestion for employment of a dual spring in the shock absorber is made.
