Susceptibility and coercivity of amorphous wires

Amorphous Fe40Ni40B20 alloy is treated with infrared heat pulses in the presence of a dc field to facilitate the relaxation of the internal stress. Magnetic properties like initial susceptibility, magnetization, remanence, magnetostriction and effective anisotropy are measured in as-received and heat treated samples. Magnetic softness increases when treated with short duration heat pulses. The stress dependence of the above properties have been studied. It is found that the normal curves of as-received and heat treated samples under different stresses reduce to the single curve when expressed in terms of reduced variables M/MD vs. H/Hc, where MD and Hc are the domain saturation magnetization and coercive field, respectively. The results are consistent with the model due to Vazquez et al. © 1988.

Magnetic properties of amorphous Fe-Ni-B alloy under heat-pulse annealing and stress

Stress dependent magnetic properties of as-received and heat-treated amorphous Fe81B13.5Si3.5C2 alloy is studied. The heat-treatment is done by short duration infra-red heat-pulse. The results show that the anisotropy energy in the sample is of magneto-elastic in origin. An equation of state is obtained from the stress dependent M-H curves. © 1988.

Stress dependent magnetic properties of as-received and heat-pulse annealed amorphous Fe81B13.5Si3.5C2

The frequency and field dependence of permeability, the differential maximum permeability, and coercive field of a‐Fe81B13.5Si3.5C2 alloys are studied as‐received and under heat treated conditions. The sample is heat treated with infrared heat pulse and current pulse. The magnetic properties are improved when the sample is treated for a short duration heat pulse. Response to alternating magnetic field and heat pulse of a‐(FeBSiC) alloy

An ac two-core transducer assembly using a-Fe81B13.5Si3.5C2 and a-Fe40Ni40B20 ribbon to detect small displacement and current is proposed. The amorphous material is kept at 'zero-flux state' by applying equal and opposite ac magnetic fields. When this state is disturbed by an external magnetic field, an ac signal is produced which is proportional to the external field produced by a bar magnet or current carrying coil. The results for the sensitivity and linearity with displacement (linear and angular) of a magnet and with current are presented for two configurations of transducer. © 1987.

An AC transducer system to detect small displacement and current using amorphous magnetic material

Initial susceptibility, normal M-H curve are measured under tensile stress ( sigma less than 40 MPa) for the as-received and heat-treated a-FeBSiC alloy. The heat treatment is done by using infra-red heat pulse. The initial susceptibility decreases with stress and the M-H curve becomes steeper as the stress is applied. Due to heat treatment the magnetic softness increases. From the stress dependence of M-H curve, the magnetostriction constant is calculated and is found to be 16 multiplied by 10** minus **6 and 22. 8 x 10** minus **6 for as-received and heat-treated sample at an excitation field of 20 Oe.

An a. c. two-core transducer assembly using a-Fe//4//0Ni//4//0B//2//0 and Fe//8//1B//1//3//. //5Si//3//. //5C//2 ribbon to detect small displacement is constructed. The amorphous material is kept at 'zero-flux state' by applying an equal and opposite a. c. magnetic field. When this state is disturbed by an external magnetic field, an a. c. signal which is proportional to the external field, appears. The results for sensitivity and linearity with displacement of source disturbing the magnetic state is presented for two configurations of the transducer.

AC TRANSDUCER SYSTEM FOR DETERMINATION OF SMALL DISPLACEMENT.

The effect of the competing nature of exchange interactions on the magnetic properties (e.g. transition temperature Tc, susceptibility and magnetization) of disordered Ising alloys ApB1-p where both A and B represent magnetic atoms are investigated. The free energy is obtained using a cluster-variational method, where the interactions within the clusters of all possible configurations are treated exactly and the rest of the interaction is replaced by an effective variational field. The frustration effect is introduced taking either one or both the exchange integrals JAB and JBB to be antiferromagnetic whereas JAA is ferromagnetic. The phase boundary shows re-entrant behaviour within a range of concentration p, and Tc depends sensitively on the strength of the antiferromagnetic bond. The low temperature phase has larger field response and higher non-linear susceptibility compared to the high temperature paramagnetic phase. The plot of inverse of paramagnetic susceptibility vs. T shows a strong curvature which increases with disorder. The effective exponent γ*(T) of the susceptibility passes through a maximum as T is increased from Tc. The qualitative aspects of these results are similar to the observed behaviour of many amorphous alloys. © 1985.
