The proper analysis of PV power plant is one of the most crucial requirement for the development of technology, proper distribution and maintainance. This paper presents analysis and comparision of performance of two grid-connected photovoltaic plants which are situated at the same place but based on different module technologies. the monitored plants are 43 kW grid-connected amorphous-silicon system and 58 kW multicrystelline-silicon grid-connected PV system. The performance indices that are used for comparative study of systems are performance ratio, specific yield, reference yield, capture loss, system loss, system efficiency, PVUSA rating, and performance indicator based on ratio of ac power at PTC to dc power at STC. Three year monitored data from July 2011 to July 2014 since plant commissioned are used for the analysis. Major operation and maintainance issues that have occured during this period are also discussed. © 2014 IEEE.

Performance analysis of 58 kW grid-connected roof-top solar PV system

Nonlocal hydrodynamic Drude model overcomes the limitations of the conventional Drude model in describing light-matter interactions in nanoplasmonic structures. Here we present a weak formulation based rigorous numerical method for it, which avoids spurious resonances as in the case of the curl-free approximation setting. The simulated results agree with Mie results, and the method is capable of handling arbitrarily shaped scatterers. © OSA 2014.

Plasmon enhanced absorption in Au: ZnO hybrid systems

In this paper, a novel biometric inspired multimedia encryption technique is proposed. For this purpose, a new advent in the definition of fractional Fourier transform, namely, dual parameter fractional Fourier transform (DP-FrFT) is proposed and used in multimedia encryption. The core idea behind the proposed encryption technique is to obtain biometrically encoded bitstream followed by the generation of the keys used in the encryption process. Since the key generation process of encryption technique directly determines the security of the technique. Therefore, this paper proposes an efficient method for generating biometrically encoded bitstream from biometrics and its usage to generate the keys. Then, the encryption of multimedia data is done in the DP-FrFT domain with the help of Hessenberg decomposition and nonlinear chaotic map. Finally, a reliable decryption process is proposed to construct original multimedia data from the encrypted data. Theoretical analyses and computer simulations both confirm high security and efficiency of the proposed encryption technique. © 2013 IEEE.

Biometric inspired multimedia encryption based on dual parameter fractional fourier transform

In this paper, a novel logo watermarking technique with key concept is proposed using fractional wavelet packet transform (FrWPT), non-linear chaotic map and singular value decomposition (SVD). The core idea is to use biometrically generated keys in the embedding process of gray-scale watermark. Therefore, this paper first proposes a method for generating keys from biometrics efficiently. Then the host image is first randomized with the help of non-linear chaotic map followed by the embedding in the FrWPT domain by modifying the singular values of the randomized image. Further, in order to enhance the security, an authentication key is formed to authenticate the watermarked image. Finally, a reliable extraction process is proposed to extracted watermark from the possibly attacked authenticate watermarked image. The security, attack and comparative analysis confirm high security, efficiency and robustness of the proposed watermarking technique. Further, an efficient solution is also proposed to deal with the ambiguous situations created by SVD in watermarking. © 2014 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Robust logo watermarking using biometrics inspired key generation

In this article, we study aging properties of parallel and series systems with a random number of components. We show that the decreasing likelihood ratio property is closed under the formation of random minima. We also show, by counterexamples, that other aging properties are not closed under the formation of random minima or maxima. Some mistakes in the literature are corrected. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Some aging properties of parallel and series systems with a random number of components

We will discuss a small novel hexagonal shaped geometry for ultra wideband (UWB) monopole antenna with notch characteristics. The self-similar nature of this fractal like geometry provides higher effective antenna length and wide operating bandwidth because of the onset of multiple resonances. Notch characteristics are introduced using a rectangular slot in the ground plane, which enhances the reflection coefficient over the entire UWB frequency operating range for the proposed device. The optimized 19 mm × 15 mm dimensions, for the proposed antenna are the smallest among such geometries, exhibiting a large bandwidth from 3.1 GHz to 11.7 GHz with VSWR &lt; 2 over the entire frequency range. The proposed antenna demonstrates nearly omnidirectional radiation pattern, proper impedance matching, and good return loss over the entire UWB frequency range. © 2013 IEEE.
