Multivariable Control Of A Smart Structure Using Periodic Output Feedback

Abstract
The design of periodic output feedback control for a multivariable smart structure system was discussed. A periodic output feeback vibrational control system for a flexible smart cantilever beam was designed by bonding patches of piezoelectric layers as a sensor/actuator pair to the master structure at different locations along the length of the beam. The entire structure was modeled in state space form using the finite element method by dividing the master structure 4 finite elements and placing the sensor/actuator pair at finite element positions, 2 and 4, giving rise to a multi-input multi-output (MIMO) system.
